Manawatu Branch spent a day helping out Pukaha National Wildlife Centre
Two teams tackled collecting boulders to be used in a new Kakariki aviary and clearing of an area to be used as a Blue Duck habitat.
As a bonus the crew got to see the rare white Kiwi and 12 day old kiwi chicks being fed. In the afternoon, after another gruelling work session, the team relaxed and watched/helped feed the wild Kaka’s.
Another team is going to assist next week and potentially later in the year too.
